West coast artist, Rowe Rowe uses clever wordplay to address important social issues we face in America today

LOS ANGELES, CA - As an artist whose passion is to expose the systematic failures of governance, the 20 year-old rapper, Rowe Rowe uses his music to awaken a world that needs to understand unrest and unfairness.

Characterized by a unique pairing of seductive melody and socially-cognizant lyrics, Rowe Rowe’s music is purposeful and dialogue-driven, drawing upon a wide range of genres. In each piece, he does something different and talks about issues that matter. “That is why I believe wordplay is so important: it’s a way to talk about contemporary social realities and make listeners question the commercialized music they hear and think about how other stories are being told,” Rowe Rowe said.

An uplifting and reflective single, “1 Day” allows the listener to escape into an upbeat tempo while also creating a world for them to dwell in. The song is about the disappearing social mobility in America, and an illusive American Dream. “The song contends with our current political state in dialogue with the racist belief systems that have become widely circulated in the last four years. I wanted to make something impactful, and also to create a visual around the song to engage the audience even more.”

One month after its release, “1 Day” charted on the iTunes Top 100 for Hip Hop/Rap. The song delves into issues of police brutality and how policing and other authoritative institutions continue to protect themselves without being held accountable. Rowe Rowe’s passion for exposing the injustices which have plagued America from the beginning come through in this track.

Through the years, Rowe Rowe has shown his talent for creating diverse pieces in different genres. Released in 2019, “Do Something” is a love song with an R&B flavor. Not one to shy away from important issues, Rowe Rowe also released “Guiding Light” which focused on mental health and aspired to spread awareness about the ongoing mental health crisis. Emotional and personal, the piece featured a dedication to a close friend of the artist who passed away.

Working to overwrite the dominant overtones of violence and sexism in modern rap music, Rowe Rowe’s music offers complex interpretations of contemporary American mythology, especially in urban life. Driven to be different, Rowe Rowe started working his music career at 11 years old. By texting major producers, he was able to get one producer to give him a shot. Through perseverance and by developing his own unique sound and messaging, Rowe Rowe has gained a large and loyal following.

Rowe Rowe is currently in the process of releasing another album while working on creating a company in the data analytics field. “I’m passionate about computer science and data analytics, and believe that artists should be involved in a multitude of fields,” he stated. Rowe Rowe has also delved into screenwriting and is working on a show about how to make it in the music industry, and the pros and cons of chasing a dream in the industry.
